Dr Dan Okehi is one of the people who believes and behaves in such a manner as to make sure that his thoughts, words and actions are beneficial to the scenes in which he found himself. Dan has been very beneficial to the nation’s financial service sector where he serves as a top notch professional of over 40 years standing. His impacts in the social and religious circles stand him out as a role model whose sphere of influence is over reaching. It is therefore not surprising that Nigeria’s Commissioner for Insurance Mr Olusegun Ayo Omosehin and Bishop Peace Onkonkwo of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) have accepted to lead the business and religious communities respective to celebrate Dan Okehi at 70 years, an event scheduled for May 10 at the Muson Center Onikan in Lagos. This social event will be followed with a thanksgiving church serving on Sunday, May 11 at the TREM Headquarters, Anthony Lagos. The significance of this milestone celebration on May 10 is underscored by the acceptance of General Ike Nwachukwu to chair the occasion as well as the presence of former Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo who will deliver a keynote address.
The saying that “all that is required for success is a vision of the destination; the journey itself will reveal the means to take me there” can be said to be true of Dan Okehi, a focused insurance practitioner who have through the dent of hard work and commitment to professional ethics, exploratory dispositions to challenging status quo and penchant for achieving excellence come to redefine success. Dr Okehi became a CEO at under the age of 30. As a thought leader, he has authored 13 books and over 500 papers. Marked by roles in consulting and transformative projects in leadership, Dr Okehi has re-engineered banking and insurance processes in Nigeria. As a former Consultant to the National Insurance Commission on Energy Insurance, he has driven impactful change in financial systems. Dan Okehi currently serves as Chairman of Brickred Consult Ltd, a leading consultancy firm specializing in leadership training, finance, risk management and oil and gas insurance underwriting. He is also the Managing Director and CEO of Brickred Insurance Brokers, an international brokerage firm based.
It is therefore not surprising that Dr Dan Okehi recently emerged from an avalanche of insurance technocrats to be endorsed as winner of the Champion Newspapers’ 2024 Insurance Personality of the Year, an award which will be officially presented to him at this year’s annual Champion Newspapers award scheduled for June 7, 2025 at Eko Hotel and Suits, Lagos. ´

Daniel Okehi who is from Orogwe, Owerri West of Imo state was born on May 6, 1955. He is a distinguished consultant, Risk Manager, Insurer, Banker and top-rated Management Consultant with over 40 years of cognate experience in the financial Industry. He is a PhD holder, Researcher, Lecturer, a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Nigeria, a philanthropist and Author, who in 2015 developed a software application on Risk-management in banking operations called Brickred Banking Risk Software (BBRS).One of his books is on Modeling Risk Management in Banks: Examining Why Banks Fail. Dan has been involved in the reengineering of banking and insurance processes on risk management systems that have yielded positive results in the Nigerian Banking and Insurance Industries. To celebrate his life at 70, Dan will be launching four books; Heirs of righteousness, Realities of God’s grace to man, Jesus: The game changer of our faith and the fourth one which is a leadership book is titled Transformational and compelling leadership which featured a forward written by Prof Pat Utomi
Popularly called the Big Fish in Insurance industry and the man with a Midas touch, some of Dan Okehi’s achievements in the nation’s insurance industry include his establishment of Central Insurance Company Ltd (CICO), Guardian Trust Insurance Ltd, developing the motor-tracking system in Nigeria that reduced vehicle theft, sanitation of the genuine usage of Motor and Marine Certificates which reduced fake licensing racketeering in Nigeria. He also served as the pioneer General Manager of African Development Insurance Company (ADIC).
Okehi is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School’s Chief Executive Programme and a Fellow of several prestigious institutions, including the Chartered Insurance Institute (London), the Council of Registered Insurance Brokers of Nigeria, and the Enterprise Risk Management Association of Nigeria.
The other side of this Insurance icon is the fact that Dan is a spirit-filled Christian men leader. Okehi and his wife, Audrey are both deacons in the Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM). For 10 years, he was the chairman of Rehoboth Micro-Finance bank. He was also a one-time Chairman of SPSD, a World Bank Project in Imo State where he served for four years. Currently, he’s the Chairman of DOHEEC International Healthcare Ltd.
The truth today is that Dr Dan Okehi deserves all the accolades that he is getting today considering his degree of devotion to professionalism, competence and his unflinching resolve to uphold high ethical standards in whatever filed which he chooses to play in. At 70 years, Dan has done well hence the desire of his colleagues to celebrate him. Always.
