African beach Soccer Union approves Kwara’s maiden U-17 female tourney

The Kwara Beach Soccer Association says its plans to organise a maiden edition of a female U-17 Beach Soccer Tournament in Ilorin, the state capital, had reached advanced stages, having received approval from the Women’s Development Committee of the African Beach Soccer Union, South Africa.

Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Mrs Abimbola Olaoye, told journalists in Ilorin, on Friday, that the tournament would hold in April at the Kwara stadium complex.

Olaoye acknowledged the support of the Chairman of the association, Alh. Abdullateef Adedeji, and its Patron, Prince Oladimeji Thompson, while also acknowledging the unprecedented efforts, and investments of the state government on grassroots sports development.

She explained that the competition was aimed at discovering talented female beach soccer players and to also improve awareness about the game in the state.

Olaoye, however, solicited for assistance from government and other stakeholders in the association’s bid to organise an acceptable and befitting first ever female beach soccer tournament.
